Wintershall Norge has become operator of Brage oil field in the North Sea offshore Norway, replacing Statoil.

Wintershall Norge has become operator of Brage oil field in the North Sea offshore Norway, replacing Statoil.

The transfer occurred as planned under an asset swap involving Norwegian North Sea interests by the companies announced last year and completed in July (OGJ, Oct. 29, 2012, Newsletter). Wintershall received parts of Statoil’s interests in Brage, Gjoa, and Vega oil fields. Statoil received parts of Wintershall’s interest in the Edvard Grieg license.

Brage, on production since 1993, has an integrated steel platform set in about 140 m of water.

“The Brage platform off Bergen is the first major production platform operated by Wintershall Norge,” a company statement said.
