Three Indian state concerns led by Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd., Mumbai, will develop the Dirok gas-condensate discovery on Block AAP-ON-94/1 in the Assam-Arakan basin as soon as they receive regulatory approvals for the development-production phase, HOEC said last month.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons have approved the commerciality of Dirok, which is estimated to have initial gas in place of 254 bcf.
HOEC as operator said it is preparing an accelerated field development plan.
The Dirok-2 appraisal well drillstem tested at 6.5 MMscfd of gas and 140 b/d of condensate on a 32/64-in. choke from 6 m in one gas-bearing zone out of a total of 150 m net thickness in 15 gas-bearing reservoirs, HOEC said earlier (OGJ Online, Jan. 5, 2011). The test depth interval wasn’t disclosed. A fourth well was drilled in 2012.
Partners in the 652 sq km block are HOEC, Indian Oil Corp. Ltd., and Oil India Ltd. with participating interests of 26.882%, 29.032%, and 44.086%, respectively.
