Starting Oct. 22, the US Energy Information Administration will release a new monthly drilling productivity report (DPR), which will provide “region-specific insights into rig efficiency, new well productivity, decline rates at previously existing wells, and overall production trends,” according to EIA.
The DPR will cover six regions, including Bakken, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Marcellus, Niobrara, and Permian. In 2011-12, these six regions accounted for 90% of US oil production growth and nearly all US natural gas production growth.
The report’s informative indicator metrics include the active rig count, drilling efficiency and the productivity of new wells, and production and depletion trends for previously producing wells.
