App Energy LLC plans to drill as many as five more wells by yearend near a discovery in the Twin Bottoms field area of Lawrence County, eastern Kentucky.
App Energy as operator drilled the Gerald Grove H-1 well to 4,036 ft measured depth, 1,171 ft true vertical depth, and logs and other date indicate that the horizontal section encountered 2,588 ft of oil-bearing sandstone.
The well is cased and will be tested as soon as possible, said Daybreak Oil & Gas Inc., Spokane, Wash., which holds an interest.
The rig has been released to drill two wells nearby for another operator and will then return to drill the next scheduled well, Dillon H-6.
