OAO Gazprom said it expects to “soon receive licenses for new prospects in Tajikistan.”
A Gazprom delegation met on Sept. 18 with Tajikistan President Emomali Rachmon. Existing licenses permitting Gazprom International to explore in the western Shaambary and Sarykamysh areas were extended for 5 years, Gazprom said.
In 2003, the parties signed a long-term cooperation agreement. In 2008, they signed a pact on subsurface exploration. Gazprom later drilled the Shakhrinav-1p well to 6,450 m.
