Sinopec ethylene plant comes on stream

Sinopec Wuhan Co. announced earlier this month that its 800,000-tonne/year ethylene project had produced its first batch of “qualified products,” marking the plant’s successful commissioning and start-up.

Sinopec Wuhan Co. announced earlier this month that its 800,000-tonne/year ethylene project had produced its first batch of “qualified products,” marking the plant’s successful commissioning and start-up.

The project includes 11 greenfield major production units with public utilities and supporting facilities. It was built in 3 years with a total investment of $2.7 billion and will produce 2.3 million tonnes/year of more than 20 kinds of products.

The announcement said the project is “pivotal” in the company’s 11th 5-year plan and the most important project in Hubei province.
