Enquest PLC, London, has let a contract for inspection, repair, and maintenance services to Hallin Marine in its revitalization of the Thistle Alpha drilling and production platform in the North Sea 275 miles northeast of Aberdeen (OGJ Online, Feb. 5, 2013).

Hallin will use its Stril Explorer DP2 multipurpose support vessel to perform the work. The 60-slot platform, in 524 ft of water, was installed in 1976. It handles production from Thistle and Devon oil fields, now with 19 producing wells and 7 water injectors.

Enquest expects its revitalization project to recover an extra 35 million boe of oil and gas and to extend Thistle field’s life to 2025 or beyond with water injection and infill drilling.
