Canadian LNG project awards FEED contract

Pacific NorthWest LNG Ltd. has awarded the front-end engineering and design contract for the 12-million tonne/year project to three contractors: Bechtel, KBR/JGC joint venture, and Technip/Samsung Engineering/China Huanqiu joint venture.

Pacific NorthWest LNG Ltd. has awarded the front-end engineering and design contract for the 12-million tonne/year project to three contractors: Bechtel, KBR/JGC joint venture, and Technip/Samsung Engineering/China Huanqiu joint venture.

Pacific NorthWest LNG is a unit of Malaysia’s state-owned Petronas and Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. Ltd. The two-train export plant is planned for Lelu Island near Prince Rupert, BC (OGJ, Mar. 11, 2013, Newsletter).

Pacific NorthWest LNG expects the FEED and engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning bid to be complete by August 2014. At yearend 2014, Pacific NorthWest LNG plans to reach the project’s final investment decision.

The proposed plant will export natural gas produced by Progress Energy Canada in northeastern British Columbia.
