Tests of the floating production, storage, and offloading vessel on Te Giac Trang (TGT) oil field offshore Vietnam have confirmed production capacity beyond the 55,000-b/d minimum contractual rate, reports SOCO International PLC, a partner.

Hoang Long Joint Operating Co., the operator, has completed the first phase of a multistage test of the FPSO, achieving production of more than 60,000 b/d.

The tests “fully support our belief that with only minor modifications the FPSO should comfortably be able to handle volumes of around 70,000 bo/d,” said Ed Story, SOCO president and chief executive officer. “This gives us considerable confidence that the TGT field production levels can be maintained at a rate of about 55,000 b/d.”

After modifications to the low-pressure separator system, a new phase of testing will process more than 60,000 b/d.

The Cuu Long basin field began production in 2011 (OGJ Online, Aug. 22, 2011).
