Andrew Mackenzie has been named chief executive officer of BHP Billiton Ltd., succeeding Marius Kloppers, who will retire. Mackenzie has been group executive and chief executive nonferrous.

In a series of changes of the resource conglomerate’s Group Management Committee, Tim Cutt was named president, petroleum and potash. Cutt has been president of BHP Billiton Diamonds and Specialty Products and before that was president, production in the company’s petroleum unit. Mike Yeager, who has been group executive and chief executive petroleum, is retiring.
