Officials of Canada and Israel have called for proposals for research and development projects to be supported by the Canada-Israel Energy Science and Technology Fund, established last year.

The program focuses on innovative energy technologies and processes and includes development of unconventional oil and gas resources.

Eligible projects will be led by industry and might include academic partners in both countries

Natural Resources Canada has committed $5 million over 3 years to the fund. The Israeli government will provide funds project-by-project.

In a press statement, Natural Resources Canada said it expects its commitment to generate $20-40 million worth of “collaborative research from Israeli academic, business and provincial partners.”
