San Leon Energy PLC has extended the time for its data room to share with potential farmees information on the Alban structure on its 100% owned Durresi block in the Adriatic Sea offshore Albania.
The 1994 A3-1X exploratory well near the structure’s center found 55% sand-shale ratio in the preevaporitic Upper Miocene section, and San Leon Energy would prefer to spread risk and drill again in 2014.
The company shot 840 sq km of 3D seismic in 2011 and performed a prestack depth migration in 2012. It has estimated a mean prospective resource of 3.2 tcf of gas and 145 million bbl of condensate recoverable for Alban.
Strong amplitude anomalies on the structure show at least three sand sections with 110-155 m of thickness separated by shales 50-110 m thick. Strong mud gas shows appeared in nearby similar sections during drilling. The strong seismic responses are all constrained by faults. A significant velocity pushdown effect is also associated with the core of the structure, and the velocity anomaly correlates well with the amplitude anomaly, San Leon Energy said.
Neither the amplitude anomalies nor the velocity anomaly is present at the A3-1X well. The company is reinterpreting and conducting amplitude versus offset analysis of the data on Alban and the other multiple prospects and leads on the block.
Alban reservoir targets are at 1,500-2,500 m in 150 m of water. Durresi is on the Apulian margin on trend with Tertiary gas and Mesozoic-Tertiary oil discoveries in the Italian Adriatic to the northwest. Patos-Marinza field, estimated to have had as much as 7.7 billion bbl of original oil in place, lies to the southeast.
A number of development options to Italy and Albania exist, multiple regional pipeline projects are planned in southeastern Europe, and the Trans Adriatic pipeline is planned to run through the block, San Leon noted.
