Inpex unit lets contract for Abadi LNG off Indonesia

Inpex Masela Ltd., a unit of Inpex Corp., has awarded an $8.6 million contract to Wood Group Kenny for front-end engineering and design (FEED) of the subsea production supporting the Abadi LNG project off Indonesia.

Inpex Masela Ltd., a unit of Inpex Corp., has awarded an $8.6 million contract to Wood Group Kenny for front-end engineering and design (FEED) of the subsea production supporting the Abadi LNG project off Indonesia.

The project will involve construction of a floating LNG plant that will produce 2.5 million tonnes/year for first-stage development of Abadi gas field in 400-900 m of water on Masela block in the Arafura Sea (OGJ Online, July 22, 2011).

Wood Group Kenny in Indonesia (PT Wood Group Indonesia), supported by Wood Group Kenny offices in Perth and Melbourne, will perform the FEED for about 12 months, beginning at yearend 2012.

This work will involve comprehensive engineering for the subsea umbilical, riser, and flowlines, including subsea structures and equipment. A further FEED contract for the FLNG plant will be awarded later, according to the announcement from Wood Group Kenny.
