Repsol said it has made a second gas-condensate discovery with a resource potential of 1-2 tcf in Peru’s Ucayali basin near the Camisea gas-condensate fields and plans to continue exploring Block 57.
Repsol production-tested the Sagari discovery in the Permian Upper and Lower Nia between 2,691 m and 2,813 m. One formation flowed 26 MMcfd of gas and 1,200 b/d of condensate, and the other made 24 MMcfd and 800 b/d.
Sagari is on the same block as Repsol’s 2008 Kinteroni gas-condensate discovery, which is under accelerated development and is to go on production by the end of 2012 (OGJ Online, Jan. 25, 2008). Kinteroni, at 2 tcf, was one of the world’s five largest discoveries in 2008, the company said.
Repsol is operator of Block 57 with 53.84% interest, and Petrobras has 46.16%.
