Turkey’s Calik Enerji has spudded the Guvenir-1 exploratory well as a test of Silurian Dadas shale potential on the Antep license in southeastern Turkey.

Drilling time to the projected 8,500 ft is 80 days, said Anatolia Energy Corp., Calgary, which has a 50% interest in the 845,418-acre license. Anatolia plans to return core samples of the shale to Calgary for analysis and later will conduct a fracture stimulation test in the shale.

The Guvenir well will also conventional Ordovician Bedinan sand reservoir just below the Dadas.

Anatolia has interests in 11 licenses in Turkey that total 1.2 million gross acres of Dadas shale and-or conventional oil prospective acreage.
