The San Luis Obispo County, Calif., Board of Supervisors has denied implementation of the Huasna oil production project in the Huasna Valley, said United Hunter Oil & Gas Corp., Calgary.

United Hunter said it had presented an alternative drilling plan and other data to the board of supervisors to mitigate Class 1 impacts and asked for a continuation for the alternatives to be properly evaluated, but the supervisors stated it would not change the outcome.

United Hunter leads a group of companies that had hoped to produce oil from the Miocene Monterey formation in Huasna field northeast of Santa Maria (OGJ Online, Feb. 18, 2011).
