Shyamal Bhattacharya has been named director (operations) at ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL), the international operations subsidiary of state-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corp. of India.
An ONGC veteran, Bhattacharya most recently has been head of the Institute of Reservoir Studies, Ahmedabad, leading a team of about 250 geoscientists planning development schemes for ONGC oil and gas fields across India.
A petroleum engineering graduate of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, he is a 2011-12 distinguished lecturer of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
