Adam Sieminski began service June 4 as the administrator of the US Energy Information Administration. As EIA’s eighth administrator, Sieminski is responsible for directing the nation’s primary energy statistical and analytical agency.

“EIA is truly fortunate to have Adam Sieminski as its new administrator to lead the agency at a time when both domestic and international energy issues are at the forefront of the national discourse,” said US Sec. of Energy Steven Chu.

During 2005 until March 2012, Sieminski was the chief energy economist for Deutsche Bank, working with the bank's global commodities research and trading units. During March-May, while awaiting confirmation as administrator, Sieminski served as a senior director on the staff of the National Security Council.

From 1998 to 2005, he served as the director and energy strategist for Deutsche Bank's global oil and gas equity team. Prior to that, from 1988-97, Sieminski was the senior energy analyst for NatWest Securities in the US, covering the major US international integrated oil companies.

He also had acted as a senior advisor to the Energy and Natural Resources Program at Washington, DC-based think-tank Center for Strategic & International Studies.
