Origin Energy has begun development drilling at the Geographe gas field in Otway basin offshore western Victoria.
There will be two development wells drilled and connected to the existing nearby Thylacine platform via a subsea production system remotely controlled from shore.
Development of Geographe was approved in late-2011. The aim is to maintain production to the Origin JV’s Otway gas plant as production from Thylacine begins to decline.
Origin is operator of the project with 67.23%. Other partners are Benaris International 27.77% and Tsusho Gas 5%.
