Anatolia touts properties of Dadas shale in Turkey

Anatolia plans to evaluate Dadas shale oil resource potential in Turkey through hydraulic fracturing flow tests on the Bismil and Antep licenses in the next 6 to 9 months and the Sinan license in the next 15 months.

In conjunction with the core analysis, Anatolia engaged an independent engineering firm to provide it with an NI 51-101 compliant resource evaluation of the company’s Dadas shale oil play. The report will include new data from the Caliktepe-2 well in addition to 115 line-km of 2D and 206 sq km of 3D seismic at Bismil and 377 km of 2D seismic data at Antep. The report is expected to be completed in May 2012.

The detailed core analysis indicates that Dadas is an organic rich shale with marine Type II kerogen in the middle of the oil generation window. The porosity and rock evaluation measurements indicate that the shale has generated oil that is contained in the formation. Anatolia has the right to earn a 50% interest in 371,000 net acres on the three licenses from Turkish conglomerate Calık Holding AS.

The core analysis found porosity at 2-10%, permeability of as much as 1 md at reservoir pressure, and 20-30% quartz content. Total organic carbon is 3-7%. A sample of 50.9° gravity sweet crude was extracted from Dadas shale core from a depth of 8,000 ft, where the shale is 320 ft thick in the Caliktepe-2 well.
