Sunoco Pipeline LP, West Texas Gulf Pipe Line Co., and Mobil Pipe Line Co. have begun a binding open season for their West Texas-Nederland Access project to deliver crude oil from West Texas to Sunoco Logistics Partners LP’s Nederland Terminal at Nederland, Tex. Sunoco Logistics expects the project to transport roughly 40,000 b/d to Nederland.

Sunoco Logistics expects the project to enter service first-quarter 2013.

The open season will end on May 11. Priority service will be available to shippers making long-term volume commitments.

Sunoco Logistics and Plains All American Pipeline last year boosted the capacity of their joint-venture Mesa Pipeline crude oil system, starting near Midland, Tex., and feeding into both the West Texas Gulf Pipeline and the Basin Pipeline system as well as Alon’s Big Spring, Tex., refinery, by 100,000 b/d to roughly 420,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Aug. 5, 2011).
