Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry & Energy has approved the application of DualEx Energy International Inc., Calgary, to expand the Bouhajla permit onshore northeastern Tunisia by 120 sq km or 29% of the original area in return for a commitment to record at least 20 sq km of 3D seismic.

DualEx, which remains operator, said that since its first involvement in the area it has coveted the acreage, which was held by another operator and just became available.

The expansion area lies south of the company’s Bouhajla North prospect, on which a 55 sq km 3D survey was recently shot and is being processed and interpreted.

DualEx has a 52.5% contractor interest in Bouhajla, and a farmee is to earn 47.5%. DualEx has retained Helia Consultants Ltd., Calgary, to assist with planning and logistics for the first exploratory well, expected to be drilled in 2012 on the Bouhajla North prospect.
