TransCanada Corp. launched an open season to obtain binding commitments from interested parties for the Keystone Hardisty Terminal, to be sited at the major crude oil terminal hub in Hardisty, Alta.

The proposed project is an above-ground, 2-million bbl crude oil batch accumulation terminal with tankage and pipeline infrastructure, expandable based on the level of interest received in this open season. The terminal would serve Western Canadian producers and access the Keystone Pipeline System.

Following completion of the open season Mar. 22, and subject to sufficient commitments from shippers, TransCanada intends to proceed with regulatory applications for the terminal, with an in-service target (pending approvals) of early 2015.

The Keystone Pipeline System delivers more than 500,000 b/d of Canadian crude oil to US Midwest markets and Cushing, Okla.
