Cardinal Midstream LLC, Dallas, has placed on stream its third cryogenic processing plant in the Arkoma Woodford shale (OGJ Online, Oct. 11, 2010).
The 120-MMcfd Tupelo plant, in Coal Country, Okla., brings Cardinal Midstream’s cryogenic capacity in the Arkoma Woodford to 220 MMcfd, the largest processor in the shale play, Cardinal said.
The Tupelo plant complements the 80-MMcfd Coalgate plant, also in Coal County immediately next to the Tupelo plant, and the 20-MMcfd Atoka plant, 13 miles south in Atoka County.
An NGL pipeline connects the Atoka plant with the Coalgate and Tupelo plants, where NGLs are delivered to Oneok’s NGL pipeline. Cardinal owns the Coalgate and Atoka plants in joint venture with MarkWest Energy Partners LP. Cardinal is sole owner of Tupelo.
Cardinal Midstream Pres. R. Mack Lawrence said the company is “expanding its gathering system and evaluating further processing capacity expansions given the level of drilling activity on dedicated acreage and the quality and production volume…from the rich gas wells in the play.”
Cardinal Midstream’s Oklahoma assets in Atoka, Coal, Hughes, and Pittsburg counties gather, treat, dehydrate, process, and compress natural gas produced from the Arkoma Woodford shale, said the announcement. Cardinal Gas Treating LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardinal Midstream, owns amine treating and propane refrigeration plants with in the Haynesville, Eagle Ford, Avalon, and Woodford shale plays in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma as well as the Granite Wash in North Texas and western Oklahoma.
