Sunoco Pipeline LP has begun binding open seasons for its West Texas–Longview Access and West Texas–Houston Access projects, developed to deliver crude oil from West Texas to the Mid-Valley Pipeline at Longview, Tex., and the Houston market, respectively. Sunoco expects the projects to have initial capacity of about 40,000 b/d to Houston, and 30,000 b/d to Longview.
These projects will provide West Texas producers and Gulf Coast and Midcontinent refiners with both West Texas Intermediate and West Texas Sour crudes.
Project West Texas–Longview Access will deliver crude oil from West Texas to the Mid-Valley Pipeline in Longview, using a Sunoco Pipeline LP (SPLP) line from Goodrich, Tex., to Longview. Improvements will enable the SPLP pipeline to receive crude from the West Texas Gulf Pipeline at a site roughly 2 miles west of Goodrich and deliver it to the Mid-Valley Pipeline in Longview.
SPLP expects the pipeline from Goodrich to Longview to move 30,000 b/d of WTI, on a segregated basis, starting in January 2013.
Project West Texas–Houston Access will deliver crude oil from West Texas to the OTI Terminal in Houston, using an SPLP pipeline from Goodrich to Houston. Improvements will enable the SPLP pipeline to receive crude from the West Texas Gulf Pipeline at a site roughly 3 miles east of Goodrich and deliver it to the OTI Terminal in Houston.
SPLP expects the pipeline from Goodrich to Houston to provide service for 40,000 b/d of crude, on an unsegregated basis, starting April, and service for roughly 44,000 b/d of West Texas sour crude, on a segregated basis, from January 2013.
Sunoco said the only new pipe used in the project will be for the Goodrich tie-ins.
The open seasons began Feb. 17 and will end Mar. 19.
