Quebec has granted Petrolia, Rimouski, Que., a license to drill a third well at Haldimand light oil field in eastern Quebec’s Gaspe Peninsula.
The horizontal well is to spud as soon as equipment is available. The well will target a network of natural fractures in sandstones of the Devonian York River formation (OGJ Online, July 22, 2010). No stimulation will be required, Petrolia said.
“The granting of this drilling license also confirms that no moratorium exists on conventional oil projects in Quebec,” Petrolia added.
