Valiant Causeway Ltd. let a €33 million contract to Technip for developing Causeway oil field on Blocks 211/2a and 211/23d, 450 km northeast of Aberdeen in the UK North Sea.

The Causeway subsea completed wells, two producers and one water injection well in 150 m of water, will tie back to Taqa Bratani Ltd.'s North Cormorant platform.

Valiant estimates that Causeway contains 6.3-10.1 million bbl of oil reserves and will produce 10,000 b/d at its peak. The company expects a production start in second-half 2012.

The main oil zones are in Middle Jurassic Brent at 10,000-11,000 ft (OGJ Online, Mar. 4, 2010).

The contract with Technip covers engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of rigid and flexible pipelines, subsea equipment, and umbilicals manufactured by Technip's DUCO subsidiary under a separate contract.

Technip's Aberdeen operating center will execute the contract while its spoolbase in Evanton, Scotland will weld the rigid pipelines and its Le Trait, France plant will manufacture the flexible pipe.

For the installation work, Technip will use its Apache II, Normand Pioneer, and Wellservicer vessels.

Valiant has a 64.5% interest in Causeway with the remaining interest held by Antrim Causeway (NI) Ltd.
