WesternGeco has begun shooting a multiclient 3D seismic survey on the rim of the Bjornoya basin in the Barents Sea off Norway.

The West Loppa survey will extend existing contractor data to the north and west, and fast-track data are to be available in November in time for 22nd Norwegian license round nominations. Final data would be reach in March 2012.

The 2,500 sq km shoot includes a large downthrown terrace in the north and other Jurassic faulted structures, all of which have potential, WesternGeco said. Other features are seen in the southwestern part of the survey area.
