Guinea: Deepwater wildcat to spud in October

The Jasper Explorer drillship has departed Singapore enroute to Guinea, West Africa, where it is expected to spud a deepwater exploratory well in October.

The Jasper Explorer drillship has departed Singapore enroute to Guinea, West Africa, where it is expected to spud a deepwater exploratory well in October.

Hyperdynamics Corp., Houston, will drill Sabu-1 to 3,600 m in 700 m of water. The well targets

a four-way anticline prospect in Upper Cretaceous sands. The company has contracted for a majority of the equipment and services needed for the first two wells.

Hyperdynamics is project operator with 77% participating interest. Dana Petroleum, a subsidiary of Korea National Oil Co., has 23%.
