Anadarko Petroleum Corp. issued a letter of intent to Technip for the engineering, construction, and transport of a 23,000-ton truss spar hull for development of Lucius field on Keathley Canyon Blocks 874, 875, 918, and 919 in the Gulf of Mexico. Water depth is about 7,100 ft of water.
The letter of intent allows Technip to begin preliminary work on the project including purchase of long-lead items for the hull in advance of the planned December sanction date.
The spar will have the capacity to process 80,000 b/d of oil and 450 MMcfd of natural gas.
Technip’s operating center in Houston will provide the overall project management while Technip's yard in Pori, Finland, will do the detail hull design and fabrication.
Start of oil production is slated for 2014.
Anadarko recently completed a unitization agreement with co-owners and also entered into an agreement with Hadrian South owners whereby the Lucius facility will process gas from Hadrian South (OGJ Online, July 18, 2011).
Operator Anadarko holds a 35% interest in Lucius. Partners include Plains Exploration & Production Co. 23.3%, ExxonMobil Corp. 15%, Apache Deepwater LLC 11.7%, Petrobras Amerca Inc. 9.6%, and Eni Petroleum US LLC 5.4%.
