HOUSTON, July 26
– Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is analyzing core from two of its deepwater discovery wells drilled on 2.6 million acre Offshore Area 1 off Mozambique.

The company reentered the Windjammer well and cored the entire gross reservoir section of 1,280 ft. It also reentered the Lagosta well and recovered 826 ft of core. Anadarko suspended both wells for future use (OGJ Online, Feb. 7, 2011).

The Anadarko group is drilling the Barquentine-2 appraisal well, which also is to be cored. The rig is to continue to drill appraisal wells through the end of 2011 and is to be joined by a second rig in the fourth quarter. The second rig will conduct a drillstem test program that is to include gauges in offset wells for interference testing, the company said in its second quarter operations report.
