Eni SPA discovered another Kutei basin gas field on the Muara Bakau PSC in the Makassar Strait off East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The Jangkrik North East discovery well went to 3,633 m in 460 m of water 70 km from the coast and tested gas at a tubing-constrained rate of 30.6 MMscfd. The discovery, with more than 60 m of net gas pay in excellent quality Pliocene and Miocene sands, is 15 km from the company’s Jangkrik field (OGJ Online, May 23, 2011).

Eni, through its Indonesian subsidiary, operates the Muara Bakau PSC with a 55% interest. GDF Suez has 45% interest.
