HOUSTON, June 23 – San Leon Energy PLC plans to drill three wells back to back starting Aug. 1, 2011, on the Gdansk West, Braniewo, and Szczawno concessions in the Baltic basin in Poland, where a 480 line-km 2D seismic program was complete in June.
Meanwhile, San Leon’s Vabush Energy subsidiary plans to drill two prospects starting in July-August 2011 on its 100% owned Nida concession. Vabush identified three high-potential structures on 120 line-km of 2D seismic shot by Geofizyka Krakow in May 2011. The three structures are on trend with large Grobla and Plowice oil fields.
Acoustic Geophysical has started acquisition of 165 sq km of 3D seismic on San Leon’s 100% owned Nowa Sol concession. The survey seeks to delineate prospects and leads along the southern Fore Sudetic monocline of the Permian basin and is designed to support a drilling campaign starting in late 2011.
In the Carboniferous shale play across San Leon’s 100% owned Wschowa, Gora, Winsko, and Rawicz concessions, the first exploratory well is planned for fourth quarter 2011. San Leon is evaluating core and well data.
Interpretation and prospect evaluation are under way on the Gas Plus-operated Szczecinek Block 106, in which San Leon has 50% interest. Gas Plus is likely to delay drilling until 2012 due to internal planning considerations. The firms are looking at further studies including a regional core study to evaluate the paleogeography and continued evaluation of newly shot 3D seismic.
