HOUSTON, May 11
-- DCP Midstream LLC, Denver, will build a 110-MMcfd natural gas processing plant and high-pressure gathering system in Weld County, Colo., the company announced today. Start up for the $270 million projects targets mid-2013.

The LaSalle plant will increase DCP Midstream’s position in the Denver-Julesburg basin, where it currently owns and operates seven gas plants with combined capacity of 400 MMcfd.

The gathering system expansion will also include capability to serve producers in the Niobrara shale development to the north and west of DCP’s existing footprint.

“The DJ basin continues to reinvent itself, particularly with this new phase of oil-driven development,” said Bill Waldheim, president of DCP Midstream’s northern business unit.
