HOUSTON, Mar. 2 -- SGS Industrial Services Chile, Santiago, has been assigned a 2-year contract to provide comprehensive asset integrity management and nondestructive testing services for two oil refineries in Chile.
The company didn’t identify the plants. OGJ’s annual survey indicates that Chile’s state Empresa Nacional de Petroleo operates the country’s only three refineries, Anconcagua, Gregorio, and BioBio (OGJ, Dec. 6, 2010).
SGS said its role will be to help the client manage the refineries’ assets and to ensure their integrity and reliability. The services include inspection of reactors, tanks, certain pipelines and distillation columns, conventional and advanced nondestructive testing (NDT), including vibration analysis for rotary equipment, and rope access services to enable access at different inspection points.
