HOUSTON, Feb. 23 -- Amberjack Pipeline Co. LLC, a joint venture of Chevron Pipe Line Co. and Shell Pipeline Co. LP awarded Wood Group's JP Kenny a contract to perform detailed design for its Jack-St. Malo deepwater oil-export pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico.
Chevron will construct and operate this pipeline for Amberjack. The 1-year contract follows JP Kenny's completion of the front-end engineering and design for the project.
The 136-mile, 24-in. OD pipeline will originate in 2,100 m of water at the Chevron USA Inc.-operated Jack-St. Malo hub production facility on Walker Ridge Block 718, about 280 miles south of New Orleans, and connect to the Shell Boxer A fixed platform on Green Canyon Block 19.
Design must allow for routing of the pipeline to minimize spans, pre- and post-installation vortex-induced vibration and stress spans, collapse testing of the pipe to verify WT design, and installation of in-line valves and sleds.
JP Kenny's sister companies, MCS Kenny, MSi Kenny, and Wood Group Integrity Management, will support the project, providing subsea span analysis, flow assurance, and materials engineering, respectively.
Saipem will install the line, starting first-quarter 2013 (OGJ Online, Dec. 17, 2010).
