HOUSTON, Jan. 25 -- Acadian Gas LLC, owned by Duncan Energy Partners (66%) and Enterprise Products Partners (34%), let a contract to Willbros Group Inc. for the construction of a portion of its Acadian Haynesville Extension Project. The 270-mile project, which expands the existing Acadian Gas Pipeline System, will originate in Red River Parish, La., southeast of Shreveport, and terminate near Donaldsonville, La.

Acadian has divided the Haynesville Extension Project into three major segments. It awarded Willbros construction of Segment 1, comprising about 106 miles of 42-in. OD pipeline, 2½ miles of 36-in. OD line, and 2½ miles of 20-in. OD pipeline. Segment 1 will originate in the northwest portion of Red River Parish, traverse through DeSoto and Natchitoches parishes, and terminate near Boyce, La. Willbros expects to begin construction on Segment 1 in February with completion expected in August.

The Haynesville Extension is an expansion of the Acadian Gas intrastate gas pipeline system providing producers developing the Haynesville shale access to 150 end-use customers, including industrial and municipal consumers, on the Acadian system and markets across the eastern US through interconnects with 12 interstate pipelines, including the Florida Gas Transmission and Southern Natural Gas systems (OGJ Online, June 2, 2010).

Enterprise places capacity of the completed extension at 2 bcfd.
