HOUSTON, Dec. 10 -- Chevron Corp. plans to install a new unmanned four-pile jacket, multideck platform that will bridge connect to the existing South Nemba platform on Block 0 off Cabinda, Angola. Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. Ltd. operates the field.
Chevron's South Nemba Auxiliary (SNX) project lies in 380 ft of water about 37 miles offshore.
The SNX platform will include a flare boom, helideck, oil processing train, gas compression, and dehydration equipment, electrical power generation, and other associated equipment. The oil processing train includes a two-phase intermediate-pressure separator, a three-phase low-pressure separator, and an oil degasser. Compression equipment includes a surge gas compressor and an intermediate-pressure compressor.
Daewoo Shipping & Marine Engineering is the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the platform and it selected Wood Group's Alliance Engineering to provide the jacket and topsides engineering and design.
Production from Nemba started in 1996 through an early production system (OGJ, Feb. 12, 1996, p. 26) with production starting from the South Nemba platform in 1998 and from the North Nemba platform in 2001 (OGJ, Aug. 27, 2001, Newsletter).
