Ithaca Energy advances Athena field development

Ithaca Energy (UK) Ltd. let contracts for installation of subsea equipment and a floating production, storage, and offloading mooring system for Athena field development in the UK North Sea.

-- Ithaca Energy (UK) Ltd. let contracts for installation of subsea equipment and a floating production, storage, and offloading mooring system for Athena field development in the UK North Sea.

Production from Athena oil and gas field is planned for third quarter 2011. The initial development involves four production wells supported by one water-injection well.

For the subsea installation contract, Bibby Offshore Ltd. will install subsea manifolds, flowlines, power cables, and umbilicals between the subsea wellheads and the FPSO named BW Athena.

For the FPSO mooring system contract, Bibby Offshore will install a mooring line-tethered buoy. This work includes installation of nine suction piles and anchor lines.

Ithaca Energy operates Athena Joint Venture with 22.5% interest. Partners are Dyas UK Ltd. with 47.5% interest, EWE Aktiengesellschaf, 20%, and Zeus Petroleum Ltd., 10%.
