Indonesia’s Migas awarded Lundin Petroleum AB the 4,994 sq km South Sokang block in the Natuna Sea off Indonesia.

HOUSTON, Dec. 8
– Indonesia’s Migas awarded Lundin Petroleum AB the 4,994 sq km South Sokang block in the Natuna Sea off Indonesia.

The block contains a previously unknown frontier Eocene-Oligocene basin that Lundin Petroleum discovered. Lundin Petroleum, operator, holds a 60% interest and Salamander Energy PLC 40% interest in the production sharing contract, to be signed Dec. 10.

Lundin Petroleum plans to shoot 2,400 km of 2D seismic and 500 sq km 3D seismic in the first 3-year exploration phase.
