MELBOURNE, Dec. 9 -- Inpex Australia and Total SA have released tender documents for a number of onshore construction packages for their Ichthys LNG project in northwest Australia.

These include fabrication and construction of the gas processing units; LNG, LPG, and condensate storage tanks; product loading jetty; civil works and site preparation; construction workforce accommodation village; supply of construction material and construction services; and administration buildings.

All packages are for the new gas processing facilities and associated infrastructure at the Blaydin Point plant site, near Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Front-end engineering and design contractor the JKC joint venture (JGC Corp, Kellogg Brown & Root, and Chiyoda Corp.) is carrying out the tender process.

More than 70 major packages will be released over the next few months.

The $20 billion Ichthys project will tap gas and condensate from the Ichthys field in the Browse basin off Western Australia, pipe gas 850 km to Darwin, and produce 8.4 million tonnes/year of LNG from two trains at Blaydin Point along with 1.6 million tpy of LPG.

Some 100,000 b/d of condensate will be stripped from the gas stream via a floating processing platform moored near the field.

Tender documents for the floating processing facility were released last month.

The project is expected on stream in 2016.
