HOUSTON, Dec. 2
-- Total has let an engineering, procurement services, and construction management contract to Technip to raise capacity of the hydrocracker at its 330,000 b/d Normandy refinery in Gonfreville, France.

The work is part of a project to increase diesel output by 10% and lower gasoline output by 60% while cutting the refinery’s distillation capacity to 240,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Mar. 13, 2009).

Technip will debottleneck the hydrocracker and a related hydrogen unit.

The work will increase hydroconversion capacity to 10,000 tonnes/day from 8,000 tonnes/day.
