HOUSTON, Nov. 17
– Fugro Data Services and Geomahakarsa are shooting more than 17,000 km of 2D seismic in the Indian Ocean off Seychelles in a multiclient effort worth $20 million.

The Fugro-operated Geo Arctic vessel with dual source capabilities will use an 8 km long streamer. Results are expected to become available from mid-2011.

The project may include 7,200 km over 35 blocks south of the Seychelles. WHL Energy Ltd., Perth, is seeking to acquire SEYCO Energy Pty. Ltd. and its rights to acquire up to 100% of 20,700 sq km of exploration interests in a prospective shallow water area off the southern Seychelles, where several leads have been identified (OGJ, July 6, 1998, p. 85). The acquisition is subject to shareholder approval.

The new seismic would aid WHL Energy in conducting farm out discussions in 2011.
