Santos basin FPSO hulls ordered

The developers of the presalt discoveries on Blocks BM-S-11 and BM-S-9 in the Santos basin off Brazil have let a $3.46 billion contract with Engevix Engenharia SA for the engineering, procurement, and construction of eight floating production, storage, and offloading vessels, according to a disclosure made by Galp Energia SA, a partner in Block BM-S-11.

-- The developers of the presalt discoveries on Blocks BM-S-11 and BM-S-9 in the Santos basin off Brazil have let a $3.46 billion contract with Engevix Engenharia SA for the engineering, procurement, and construction of eight floating production, storage, and offloading vessels, according to a disclosure made by Galp Energia SA, a partner in Block BM-S-11.

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) is operator of both blocks.

Galp said construction of the FPSOs will be completed by 2017 and each FPSO will have a capacity to handle 150,000 bo/d and 6 million cu m/day of gas.

Six of the FPSOs are for Block BM-S-11 that has the Tupi and Iracema discoveries and the remaining two are for Block BM-S-9 that has the Guara discovery.

The completed vessels will be in addition to FPSO Cidade Angra dos Reis, the first permanent 100,000 bo/d FPSO already in operation on Tupi (OGJ Online, Oct. 28, 2010), and another 120,000 bo/d FPSO due onstream in 2013 on Tupi Northeast, also in Block BM-S-11 (OGJ Online, June 3, 2010).

Galp Energia (Petrogal) has a 10% interest in Block BM-S-11. Partners are Petrobras 65% and BG Group 25%.

Block BM-S-9 interest owners are Petrobras 45%, BG Group 30%, and Repsol-YPF SA 25%.
