HOUSTON, Nov. 15
– Tethys Petroleum Ltd., Grand Cayman, is drilling and stimulating several wells to explore the Akkulka block in the North Ustyurt basin in Kazakhstan and appraise the Doris oil discovery.

It has shot 290 sq km of 3D seismic that the company believes will be the catalyst for the full appraisal of Doris oil discovery with drilling to start once the data are interpreted. A further 88 sq km of 3D data is also being shot over the Dodone prospect and a 45 line-km 2D dataset has been shot over the Daphne exploration prospect.

In the Kul-Bas exploration block, a 122 line-km 2D seismic program has been interpreted and used to define a new exploration prospect similar to Doris named Kalypso.

The company expects the entire seismic program, which the company has funded through $100 million in recent equity financing, to be fully interpreted by yearend 2010 with the more appraisal and exploration prospects to be identified.
