HOUSTON, Nov. 22
– Vegas Oil & Gas SA, Athens, completed the Al Ola X-1 exploratory well on the NW Gemsa concession onshore in Egypt’s Gulf of Suez.

The well flowed 1,600 b/d of oil on a 32/64-in. choke from perforations at 9,780-9,800 ft in the Rahmi member of the Miocene Kareem formation. TD is 14,323 ft.

The Lower Rudeis formation, where strong gas shows were experienced, could not be adequately tested due to mechanical difficulties.

The drilling rig is to be moved to drill the Al Amir SE-7 well, which is expected to delineate the outer limits of Al Amir SE field. The well is anticipated to be completed to start water injection in the field. Waterflooding of Al Amir field is expected to provide reserve and production additions in 2011.

Vegas is operator with 50% interest. Circle Oil PLC has 40%, and Sea Dragon Energy Inc., Calgary, has 10%.
