HOUSTON, Nov. 10 -- ExxonMobil Canada Properties let a contract to Kiewit-Aker Contractors, a 50-50 joint venture between Peter Kiewit Infrastructure and Aker Solutions, for doing front-end engineering and design and site preparation for the Hebron gravity-based structure.
Aker Solutions said the value of its share of the work is $70 million.
The venture plans to immediately start the FEED and will start site preparation at the Newfoundland and Labrador Bull Arm fabrication yard once it receives the permits.
The Hebron oil and gas development is in the Atlantic Ocean, 350 km from St. John's, Newf. and involves the development of the Hebron, Ben Nevis, and West Ben Nevis fields. Water depth in the area is 289-335 ft.
ExxonMobil expects production from Hebron to start by yearend 2017 and the project to recover 566 million bbl of oil during a 30 year life (OGJ, June 8, 2009, p. 38).
