Gazprom EP International BV and Algeria’s state Sonatrach made a discovery in Algeria’s Berkine basin at Gazprom’s first exploratory well in North Africa.

– Gazprom EP International BV and Algeria’s state Sonatrach made a discovery in Algeria’s Berkine basin at Gazprom’s first exploratory well in North Africa.

The Rhourde Sayah-2 well in El Assel Perimeter Block 236b flowed 2.1 MMcfd of gas and 360 b/d of oil from Ordovician. Total depth is 4,400 m.

Gazprom Group won rights in late 2008 to the 2,748 sq km block 150 km southeast of Hassi Messaoud. Block interests are Gazprom EP International 49% and Sonatrach 51%.
