HOUSTON, Oct. 19 -- Reliance Industries Ltd. has let a contract to Mustang for concept, front-end engineering design, and detailed engineering for a gas compression system that the contractor says will be one of the world’s largest such facilities in a single location onshore.
The system will handle gas from RIL’s deepwater Block KG-D6 in the Bay of Bengal off eastern India, providing about 100,000 hp of compression to meet inlet operating pressure conditions of the Reliance Gas Transportation Infrastructure Ltd. East-West transmission system.
Production from KG-D6 fields began in April 2009 and has reached about 60,000 cu m/day, according to RIL, which is considering integrated development of a number of satellite discoveries.
Gas comes ashore at a terminal at Gadimoga, about 60 km from a control and riser platform gathering production from the fields (OGJ, May 18, 2009, Newsletter).
