HOUSTON, Oct. 7 -- Khafji Joint Operations, a joint venture of Aramco Gulf Operations and Kuwait Gulf Oil Co., let a $400 million lump-sum contract to Technip for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup of the Khafji field crude-related offshore projects.
Khafji filed lies in the Neutral Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Technip’s scope of work covers the installation of two integrated wellhead jackets, two electric power distribution platforms, a main composite submarine cable as well as numerous infield cables, a new living quarters platform, and control room.
The contract also includes the complete refurbishment of the existing LQ and OCP platforms.
Technip's operating center in Abu Dhabi will perform the overall project management, including the procurement as well as supervision of the fabrication and installation.
The fabrication, transportation, and installation activities will be subcontracted to China Offshore Oil Engineering Corp. The project has started in the third quarter and is expected to take 36 months to complete.
